Trench coat

The trench is a basic and classic staple in every fashionista's wardrobe, and has stood the test of time without ever going out of fashion.  It’s becoming less impossible to avoid them. It is practical, functional and  keeps you warm.
The trench coat was one of the very first masculine looks adopted by women.

The first trench coats were waterproof and usually calf-length, the funny thing is they were not called a trench coat, they were called Macintosh's. Named after Charles Macintosh.
You can read more HERE.

After that popularized by Burberry during the First World War, the trench coat was developed as an alternative to the usual serge greatcoat . The serge coat is heavy with strong lapels and an awkward, boxy cut. Thomas Burberry developed the trench coat as a means of having the allied forces be more comfortable in the European theatres of war. From there on out, a legend was born. Burberry’s trench coat evolved into the ultimate coat of those chic and mysterious in our world. Burberry opened a shop in London in 1891. and then opened shops in Paris, Berlin and New York. Burberry clothing has had the royal seal of approval for over a century, worn by  princesses, kings and queens, not to mention stars and celebrities all over the world.

Trench coats have made the evolution from typical brown, black, tan and gray to being produced in nearly every color.

They're cool and classic and lend a polished vibe to your look , no matter what you happen to be wearing underneath.

Trench coats continue to look great on women, regardless of seasonal trends such as changes in length or silhouette.
