Exploring beauty

We had idea for fun and easy weekend jaunts. Mankind has always been obsessed with space exploration. Let’s make a small steps, and explore beauty on Earth. Our world is so full of wonders, new and amazing places are discovered every single day.
We visited Radimlja necropolis which is one of the most valuable monuments of the medieval period in Bosnia and HerzegovinaLocation Vidovo Polje, 3 km west of Stolac. Necropolis is probably formed at the end of the 14th century, when they were cut three large tombstones in the chest (stećci), two of which are richly decorated with figurative bas-reliefs.  Stećci are monumental medieval tombstones that lie scattered across Bosnia and HerzegovinaHowever, most of the tombstones dating from the 15th and 16th century.
The most reliable evidence of the date of origin is an epitaph on one of the them, which suggests that the necropolis dates to the time when the Hrabren-Miloradović family lived in Batnoge or Ošanići: „Pod stećkom leži Radoje, brat vojvode Petra, obojica sinovi vojvode Stipana”.
The necropolis consists of 133 tombstones, of which 36 has the form of plates, 1 plinth, 27 boxes, 24 boxes on a pedestal, 4 tall chests, 5 tall chests on the podium, the two ridge (the gable), 31 gabled with plinth and three in cross-shaped. The Radimlja necropolis is part of the historic and natural area of Stolac on the UNESCO Tentative list.
